Twin Tuesday – Happy Groundhog Day!
It’s Tuesday, and round here that means it’s Twin Tuesday! I like to participate in the Twin Tuesday meme by responding to TwinHappy Jen’s QOTW on her Twin Happy blog.
I’d like to apologise for not participating in this meme last month. A combination of being extremely busy with my corporate job, and feeling really run down with a very bad head cold (yes, the second reason is definitely because of the first!!) meant that I really didn’t have the energy to do any blogging throughout January.
I’m feeling much better now, so I intend to be back bloggingregularly this month…
Did you know that today is Groundhog Day? Wikipedia states that Groundhog Day is a holiday celebrated on February 2. It is held in the United States and Canada. According to folklore, if a groundhog emerging from its burrow on this day fails to see its shadow, it will leave the burrow, signifying that winter will soon end. If on the other hand, the groundhog sees its shadow, the groundhog will supposedly retreat into its burrow, and winter will continue for six more weeks.
Jennifer’s Twin Tuesday Question of the Week for this week is:
“What do your twins say: Is spring around the corner, or are we in for 6 more weeks of winter? (I’ll trust twins over a groundhog any day :-p)”
Well, when I tell you that we woke up to a fresh fall of snow this morning, and slipped and slid our way up to school and work in a blizzard, you will expect my girls to say that winter is here to stay for a good while longer. Surprisingly, if not optimistically, my girls are unanimously adamant that Spring is just around the corner!
I’m not so sure. It has been the coldest Winter in decades, here in Scotland and the rest of the UK, and it is certainlyfeeling extremely cold this evening. However, with us being into February already, and Easter falling in March this year, I hope my girls are correct and that it will become much milder and Spring-like soon.
The local weather forecast for tomorrow is….. for yet more heavy snow!! Only time will tell whether my girls’ seasonal prediction comes true…
