Top 3 Thursday
This blog carnival is truly as easy as it sounds…
Each week, Elizabeth at Confessions From a Working Mom and Tamara at The (Un)Experienced Mom pick a category, then ask us to share our Top 3 thoughts on it.
This week, they want to know…
What are the Top 3 things you should have thrown away… like, yesterday?
Well, anyone who knows me will tell you that I have serious hoarding issues! I have a lot of clutter in my home. Therefore, I could probably give you THIRTY things I should have thrown away! :0
3.) My Baby Paraphernalia - Even though my twin daughters are now five years old, I still have bottles, steraliser, breast pump, cot mobiles, baby blankets, cot bedding, nursing cushions, etc… I’m not sure whether Hubby and I will ever have another baby, but I suppose I have hung on to these items in the hope that we might! I am quite broody at the moment (Hubby probably not so much!) We’ve probably left it too late now anyway, as I am in my late thirties! I just can’t bring myself to throw these things out, as that would be admitting that I’ll never be pregnant again!
2.) Old Desktop Computer – I have a large wooden computer workstation/cabinet taking up a lot of room in my spare bedroom. I haven’t used the PC in about 4 years, since it malfunctioned. It wouldn’t switch on, and I think it probably might just have been the fuse in the plug. I have since acquired a laptop and a netbook, which are far easier to use. I have been meaning to get rid of the cabinet, monitor, keyboard and the (now useless) floppy disks for quite some time now. I intend to keep hold of the actual processor to see if I can salvage some of the old data on it. In particular, I would like to salvage my family tree data and some plot outlines for a few novels that I was working on.
1.) College Stuff – I still have all my old college textbooks, modules, notes and assignments. As you can imagine, this takes up a LOT of room in my spare room. My reason for taking this stuff with us when we moved house five years ago was that I had fully intended to train to be a college tutor myself, and I had thought that the material would come in handy. I have not, as yet, enrolled in the postgraduate course required to train to become a college lecturer. I probably never will. Even if I did, the textbooks and materials are probably too far out of date by now to be of any great use to me.
I reckon I’ve just talked myself into doing a major Spring Clean this weekend! The college stuff is definitely going, as is the computer stuff but….
…erm… I’m still not sure about the baby things! I reckon I’ll just keep hold of that for a wee while longer yet!….

I think it’s actually pretty cool you still have all your old college educational materials! I have a friend whose hubby is a dentist, and he still has all his stuff too. It takes up an ENTIRE room in their house!

1Thanks so much for becoming a new follower, I am excited to have a follower from across the pond! I too am a pack rat and I have a ton of things that I need to get rid of, but you never know when you will need it, including most of my college text books.
2Before I moved from NY to MO, I shipped 150 pounds of stuff to my new home. I got rid of about 4000 pounds of stuff, most of it given away or tossed.
Thirty-three years of adult life, all gone.
Before I took that plunge, it seemed so hard – I worked hard to buy all that stuff.
It was liberating, and I haven’t missed any of that stuff.
3Old computers like to hide out here, too.
4IDK- the old college stuff might be fun- my 8 year old plays school ALL the time and would dig those old books- NO I DO NOT want you to send them to me … I’m just sayin you never know
