First up, Five Question Friday…

1. How close to your childhood dreams is your life now?

Career-wise it could not be further from my childhood dreams. I dreamt of being a journalist or writer when I was a child, and later I had wanted to go into teaching. However, I now do statistical reports for Social Work Services. Having said that, I am still dreaming of being a published author one day!….

Family-wise, things are pretty close to my childhood dreams. I have been happily married for thirteen years and we have two beautiful, intelligent and affectionate children. I couldn’t have wished for more!

2. What is one must have item for the summer?

I have recently answered this question for another blog meme. Read it here.

3. Do you have your kids stay up on school stuff during summer vacation? (Or, if you don’t have kiddos, did your parents make you keep up on school stuff during summer?)

We like to keep the girls up to speed on their reading and sums over the summer. We also encourage independent learning, and the girls have been enthusiastically learning Spanish, in their own time, since last summer!

4. Do you can or freeze fresh produce?

I sometimes freeze fresh produce, but I’m more likely to freeze cooked food. I don’t grow my own fruit and veg at the moment, but plan to start doing so soon. Therefore, I reckon I will freeze more fresh produce when I start harvesting my own food. I’d also like to make my own jams and preserves.

5. Do you get ready for the day first thing in the morning?

Yes, I spend the first five minutes of the day, lying in bed, and thinking of everything I need to do. Once I get up, it can get very chaotic!…

Today I have to come up with a mathematical formula to express something I know/believe.

Example: Long Saturday run + Frappuccino = Happiness.

Well, I wouldn’t mind being locked in a bar or a nightclub overnight, as long as I had good friends with me, free booze and snacks, and plenty of good tunes to boogie on down to! I suppose, it would be advantageous to have access to a comfy couch in a cosy corner, if I was to feel the need for a wee nap!
