1. What’s the the last thing you bought for yourself?

I got a Kindle for Christmas, so the last thing I bought myself was some books for it.  It’s just too easy using the one-click payment on Amazon, straight from the Kindle!  Before Christmas I bought myself some clothes to wear over the festive period.

2. What is your favourite meal on a cold winter day?

Mmmmmm…. Something like a stew or casserole done in the slow cooker, served with buttery mashed potatoes.  You can’t beat good old mince ‘n tatties at this time of year!

3. Have you started looking at swimsuits for this year, and do you buy a new one every year?

No, I haven’t even thought about looking at new swimsuits.  I’m looking to lose some weight before the summer so I might have to invest in some new swimwear!… However, I did buy a couple of new bikinis last summer, so if they still fit me I’ll not bother looking for anything new.

4. If you could be any candy what would you be and why?

Hmmm…probably a Minstrel – a hard exterior, but soft centred.  Actually, I sometimes describe my eyes as a couple of Minstrels cos they’re dark brown and shiny!

5. What are you most passionate about?

Apart from my family, I’d say The Internet!  I love everything from blogging, blog-hopping, online shopping, social media and web design!

It’s Working Mommy Wednesday and I am packing up my things for an office move. We’re not only moving office, but we’re also moving building! Our new office is literally a two-minute stroll from my house, so I’ll be able to go home for lunch every day!    We’re moving first thing tomorrow… Now it’s time for the WMW prompts:

#1. When did you start blogging and why? (Take it a step further and talk about why you continue blogging today, if that’s different from when you started.)

I discovered blogging in 2007, after becoming a party plan consultant. I had been trawling the Internet, looking for inspiration and advice re party plan businesses, and came across Kristie T’s home business blog (now Kristie Rimelle) via Webmomz. I also started following blogs by Internet gurus, Alice Seba, Nicole Dean, Crissy Herron, Darina Loakman, Denise Wakeman, Marie Ynami and Kelly McCausey. It was those bloggers who inspired me to start my own blog. My first blog was My Party Plan Blog, a spin-off of my Party Plan Consultant UK website, which I had set up as a resource for party plan consultants. Other themed blogs were to follow, linked to my home-based businesses.

Then in 2008 I began my mummy blog – Mamma Kerr, inspired by The Domestic Diva, Heather Batts. I am currently working on re-vamping all my websites and blogs. I am modernising my original Party Plan Consultant site and My Party Plan Blog, and hope to re-launch this towards the end of this year…

I am also re-vamping this Mamma  Kerr site, which will be the blog for my new parenting resource and community website that I am quietly working on just now. I hope to launch this next month or early September… Watch this space… :)

I wish I had more time to devote to my websites, as I really enjoy tinkering with them and writing content. However, I do have a corporate job, so my time is limited to weekends and evenings.

#2. What do people most often criticize about you?

• I can be untidy at times, which I blame on being VERY busy – doing too many things at the one time!
• I am opinionated. If something or someone annoys me, I speak out! Personally, I loathe people who do NOT have opinions. I prefer people with differing opinions to boring folk with no opinions on anything! I like a healthy debate on topical issues.

It’s Working Mommy Wednesday! We’re half way through the week already! Yay!

My Top 5 Go-To Things

1. Exercise Regime - I love Zumba!!  I go to a class once a week and top up in between with Zumba Fitness Wii, which is fantastic!!  It’s sooooo much fun!! 
2. Take Away Food- Hubby and I usually get a takeaway on a Saturday night.  Hubby prefers Chinese food, but I prefer Indian.  My favourite Indian dish is Chicken Tikka Chasni!  Yummmmmm!!! 
3. Music - I’m playing a lot of Robbie Williams and Take That at the moment, to get me in the mood for their gig next week.  I’m off to see them at Hampden Park in Glasgow next Friday!!…Cannae wait!!…
4. TV Programme - I’ve recently become addicted to watching Come Dine With Me!  I love everything about the program: the weird and wonderful contestants; the varied menus and cooking disasters; but most of all I love the commentary from Dave Lamb – spot on!!    There’s a lot of re-runs on the satellite channels, so there’s ample opportunity for me to indulge in my newfound fave programme.  a friend of mine has applied to be a contestant on the show, and I’m soooooo hoping that she’ll be selected!… *fingers, toes, EVERYTHING crossed for her*
5. Book to read with my daughters - I love to read The Gigantic Turnip to my daughters!  I’ve enjoyed reading this to the girls since they were toddlers, but they still love it now that they are almost seven!  We love to shout out “Pull!.. Heave!… Tug!” together, while doing the pulling actions, and then do the big “POP!!” at the end and fall backwards laughing!  It’s great fun!

I was born and raised in Glasgow, but I now live in Stirlingshire.

I’ve been married for thirteen years, and we have gorgeous twin daughters who will be seven next month.

I have a Higher National Diploma in Administration & Information Management, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business.

My career spans twenty years in the public sector, but I would love to leave to become a fulltime published author.

My hobbies include reading, writing, blogging, designing websites, digital scrapbooking and Zumba.

I had some great news this week!  I made the shortlist for the Toys R Us UK Toyologists!!  Here is my review post that won over the judges: Product Review – Wii Party.  My friend and colleague, James Spence also made the shortlist of 25!  Now we have to wait until Monday lunchtime to find out if we’ve made it to the final TEN!!  Please keep your fingers, toes, EVERYTHING crossed for me (and James!)  *bites nails*

Now it’s time (well, actually I’m a tad late!) for a little Friday Q&A….

1. Tube socks, calf socks, crew, ankle, none?

I’ve no idea if you mean socks for me or the kids, but I’m gonna answer it re my socks – I only wear socks with my boots in the winter or whenever I wear my trainers (sneakers to all my American friends!), and they’re always ankle socks.  However, sometimes I pinch my Hubby’s socks during the winter! (much to his annoyance!)

2. Was your childs (children’s) name a mutual decision or was it a debate? If you don’t have children, do you plan on giving your spouse a say, or do you have a name you MUST have, regardless if your other half likes it or not?!

When I was pregnant I had drafted a huge list of names for boys and girls. It’s a little tougher choosing names for twins and multiples, as they have to go together!   We were actually convinced we were having two boys so we concentrated on boys names.  My favourite names were Aiden and Liam.  However, Hubby wasn’t so keen on the name Aiden because it reminded him of a boy from school that he didn’t particularly like!

I ended up having two girls six weeks early, and we had not yet picked our names, so…  we spent half an hour pondering over names and ended up having to choose TWO from THREE!! – Rachel, Shannon and Sophie!  We didn’t want them having the same initial, so we had to decide between Shannon & Rachel or Sophie & Rachel – we choose Sophie & Rachel! 

3. What is your favorite type of weather?

That’s easy peasy!!  It’s gotta be SUNSHINE!!     You do realise I live in Scotland?!?  Scottish people are obsessed with the weather!!  We moan talk about it frequently constantly!!  At the first hint of sunshine, Scots are out in their skimpy little vest tops, with no sunscreen, resulting in their pastey freckled skin turning pink!!

I do love hot sunny days!  I love being able to wear flipflops!  I love spending time outdoors!  I love BBQs and al fresco dining!  I definitely believe I was born in the wrong country!  I should’ve been born in a warmer climate!  I put it down to the fact that I have Spanish ancestry!!    LOL

4. If left to your own devices, what time would you wake up every day?

I’d actually get up at the same time as I do just now Monday to Friday, and then I’d go into work at 8am, just like I did in my life B.C.  However, at the weekends it would be bliss to be able to lie in bed until lunchtime if I so wished, just as I could (if I wished!) in my life B.C.  Having said that, now that my daughters are six, they sometimes sit and read and/or chat in bed for a while before coming through to Mummy & Daddy’s room.  I’m also lucky enough to have a great Hubby who regularly brings me breakfast in bed at the weekend!! 

5. Have you bought your cemetery plots yet?

No!  :O  We haven’t really thought about anything like that to be honest!  :O  I don’t think I’ll be getting buried!  I’ll probably just get cremated (I kinda think we can’t keep burying people!), but *shudders* I really don’t want to think about too much it right now!  :S

About a year or so ago, my daughters started becoming a little obsessed with death!  Every time we passed a cemetary, they would exclaim:  “Mummy!  Look!  That’s where all the dead people live!” LOL  They would also ask: “Mummy, what age will we be when you die?” *Eeek!* :S

I’ve not participated in Working Mommy Wednesday for several weeks, as I took a wee break from blogging and blog hopping to concentrate on  my final exams at university.  Now that my studying is out the way, I’m delighted to be back, taking part in one of my favourite blog memes.

The Working Mommy Wednesday prompt for Wednesday 11th May 2011 is:

Do you typically run early, on time, or late?

I always start out with the fullest attention to be early but, more often than not, I end up struggling to be on time. Sometimes, but not too often, I am late!

I find myself forever, shouting…

“Hurry up! We’re gonna be late!”

… to my daughters every day!  Thay take forever to get up in the morning (well, school mornings anyway – weekends don’t seem to be a problem for some reason!  LOL)  Once up, they need constant prodding to get moving:

“Hurry up and go to the toilet!”

“Hurry up and get washed!”

“Hurry up and get dressed!”

“Hurry up and eat your breakfast!”

“Hurry up and get your teeth brushed!”

“Hurry up and get your jackets on!”

“Hurry up!  We’re gonna be late!”

“Hurry!  Hurry!  HURRY!!”

I am so sick of saying it ALL the time!

It’s not entirely the fault of my daughters though!  I should really get out my bed earlier in the mornings, and I should be more organised by preparing the lunches the night before.  I should really wake the girls up half an hour earlier!

Perhaps, now that I am no longer having to juggle my part-time studies with my full-time job and family commitments, I’ll be better able to multi-task and…

… BE ON TIME!!…  Maybe!?…;)

I took a wee break from blogging and blog hopping for about six weeks, as I devoted my time and energy into finishing my part-time university degree!  It has been a long hard slog, but I had my final exam on Tuesday 3rd May, which also happened to be my birthday!  What a relief it was to get that out the way though! 

Now it’s time for one of my favourite memes – Five Question Friday – Oh how I’ve missed this fun blog hop!

No, I’ve only ever shared a room with my little sister and my husband.  I’d probably be a nightmare roommate, as I am a hoarder and can be a little messy at times! 

 

Having no middle names makes form filling a skoosh!! 

Absolutely!  I watched it with my own two beautiful princesses!    They dressed up for the occasion and we had a Royal Tea Party on a blanket on our livingroom floor.  Here’s some pictures of my princesses watching the nuptials…

The bride was radiant!  I thought her dress was beautiful, elegant and very classy!  Her sister looked stunning too!

Now that’s what I call a fun wedding procession!!! 

I just like having a nice lazy morning, breakfast in bed, watching the telly and cuddling my girls!!  A nice wee lunch or dinner out with Hubby, the girls, and my parents is pretty perfect too!!

TGIF!  Yay!  I *heart* Fridays!! 

I was only in work four days this week, as I was off on Monday with my daughters for their mid-term break.  However, it has actually felt like a long week. I’ve been busy at work, and the atmosphere hasn’t been too great.  (See Wednesday’s post!) I’m also really busy with work for my two uni classes.  I have two essays to write, a group project and an exam to study for!…  I’ve also been worrying about a friend of mine who is going through a really rough time just now!

On a lighter note, the Tooth Fairy has paid TWO visits to our home this week!!    Both visits have been to the same daughter, who now has SIX teeth missing!  Her twin sister, has just FOUR missing, plus one wobbly tooth!

I’m sooooo happy that the weekend is (almost!) upon us!  Let the Social Parade Follow on Friday Blog-Hop commence!!…
