I’d never been to one before, and I was more than a little nervous of going in. However, my fears were unfounded. Every one was really nice and welcoming,, You get weighed privately, and the Consultant doesn’t announce your weight to everyone, merely your loss or gain.

I was actually mortified to see what weight I am! I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been, apart from when I was pregnant!! I went in thinking I’d like to lose a 1 ½ to 2 stones, but now I realise it’s more like 2 to 2 ½ stones!! I am three stones heavier today than I was when I got married 11 years ago!

Throughout my childhood, teens and twenties I was always slim – skinny in fact! I still feel like the same skinny wee lassie, but now I hardly recognise the person staring back at me in the mirror and in photographs.

So, now I’m equipped with a pack, containing my diet manuals, food diary and exercise log, and I’m raring to go!

I’ve actually come across a few interesting articles relating to body size and image in the last couple of days, which I thought you might be interested in:

A Daily Mail article about a US glossy magazine printing pictures of a beautiful naked girl with *shock, horror* a flabby tummy!

A feature in the Daily Mail, showcasing the new Winter collection from New Look, as modelled by the gorgeous curvaceous, Kimberley Walsh from Girls Aloud.

A Daily Record feature on how more and more women over 40 are ‘daring’ to wear mini skirts.

The first article shows pictures of an attractive young girl called Lizzie Miller. The pictures showing, her naked, confident, but a little flabby in the tummy area, have caused a storm Worldwide, and most of the feedback has been extremely supportive. The magazine has been widely praised for publishing pictures of a real beautiful un-airbrushed woman. You can read the article here.

The second article shows the gorgeous Kimberley Walsh modelling stunning outfits from New Look’s Winter range. The outfits show off Kimberley’s wonderful hourglass figure to perfection. It is so refreshing to a model with womanly curves. Have a look for yourself here.

The third article shows pictures of various celebrities over 40, pictures looking gorgeous in their mini skirts. The article reports that the outfit previously only worn by teens and twentysomethings is now popular with more mature women. My feeling is that age is irrelevant here. It is the woman’s size and shape that should dictate whether or not she should wear a short skirt or a more modest length. If a woman has a nice pair of legs, then who cares if she’s pushing 50?!? You can read the article here.
