I usually LOVE Fridays, because it is blog hopping time! It’s time to find lots of interesting new blogs and lovely people to follow. I also hope to gain lots of wonderful new followers too! :)
However, I have been off on leave all week for my Easter holidays, and now that Friday has come around, all too soon, I’m feeling a little sad that I have to go back to work in a few days!  (Especially, as my girls are off for another week next week!)

If you are visiting my blog for the first time today, I’d like to welcome you! I hope you like what you see, and that you will bookmark my site to browse later. You can follow me on Google Friends Connect, Twitter (@mammakerr) and Facebook. You can subscribe to this blog via email or RSS feeds. Please leave a comment below to tell me you’re a new follower, and I will follow you back. :)

Blog Hop: Friday Follow

February 19, 2010 By: admin Category: Follow Friday, Friday Follow, Mamma's Memes

Friday Follow

I like to participate in the Follow Friday meme on Twitter and, when setting up MammaKerr, I envisaged using a Follow Friday meme on my blog. Initially, I anticipated using site reviews of the blogs and sites I like to follow. Indeed, I did do a couple of blog posts on this last year. However, I’ve not yet been able to get into my “blogging groove” and so, sadly, this has not become a regular fixture on my blog.

I was delighted to come across a Friday Follow Blog Hop on A Mom’s Rantings. I came across this great blog via Entrecard.

Check out the MckLinky below and, if you decide to participate, add your link. Then start following the other blogs. You only have to add your link to one and it will appear everywhere the MckLinky is added.

Here’s the official rules:

–Link up your blog name and URL using the MckLinky below. Only need to add on one blog to be seen on all the blog hops.
–Follow the Friday Follow hostesses listed in the first 3 slots.
–Follow as many blogs as you’d like.
–Take a moment to comment on the blogs telling them you’re from Friday Follow.
–Follow back when you get a new follower through Friday Follow.

So why bother with this blog hopping Friday Follow malarky?

  • You can discover lots of new, interesting blogs to follow, as well as people to follow on Twitter and Facebook.
  • Lots of people will visit your site, leave comments and follow you.
  • It’s simply an easy, fun way of increasing traffic to your site and, in turn, your search engine rankings.

Have a go!  Start hopping!  You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Blog Hop: Valentines Memories

February 14, 2010 By: admin Category: Blog Hops, Mamma's Memories

I’ve just signed up with MckLinky to participate in their Blog Hops. I thought I’d try blog hopping as a fun way to promote my site, as well as providing inspiration for my blog post topics.

This week’s MckLinky Blog Hop theme is Valentines Memories.

My Hubby and I have never really went over the top with romantic gestures on Valentines Day. We both feel that it is a very over-commercialised day, when florists, stationers, jewellers and restaurants all cash in with their (often tacky) offerings. I’m lucky that my Hubby, although not inclined to grand romatic gestures, is a thoughtful and generous man, who has spoiled me over the years with lovely gifts. We often go out for meals together, on our own or with family and friends. Therefore, he does not need to single out February 14th to show how much he loves me.

Having said that, having been together for nineteen years now (and with two gorgeous daughters), we do still find ourselves going out for a ‘romantic’ meal on on around Valentines Day.

dreamstimefree_215006Hubby can be romantic when he puts his mind to it. In our early years together, we had planned to go for a weekend break together in York for Valentines weekend. However, Hubby (or Boyfriend as he was then!) secretly booked a trip to Paris instead. We had a lovely few days there, exploring the city. However, with it being February, it was absolutely freezing there! Still, it did give us an excuse to cuddle up together! ;)

A couple of years later he whisked me away to a lovely hotel in Inverkip on the Ayrshire coast for a lovely meal and an overnight stay for Valentines. The next day, we took a ferry trip over to the Isle of Bute to visit friends of ours in Rothesay, so it was a fantastic weekend.

dreamstime_10990627Nowadays, we tend to stay closer to home, and last year we actually went out for a curry with his two brothers and their partners on Valentines Day. This year (last night) we just popped out to our local curry house, within walking distance of our house, and had a lovely meal, while our daughters had a sleepover at Granny’s.

What did you do / plan to do for Valentines this year? What are your favourite memories of Valentines past? I’d love to hear from you via Comments or, if you have a blog of your own, why not join the blog hop and write about your Valentines Memories?

Happy Valentines!

Thanks for stopping by!
