I’ve found a fantastic daily meme, which I intend to participate in every day, if possible. Each day we are given a prompt, and then we have to write a short post, relating to the prompt, in just 60 seconds.

This is yesterday’s One Minute Writer prompt, but I had a bad Internet connection last night and was unable to post.

Today’s Writing Prompt: Relationship

Write about a relationship in which you’re not involved, that you observed this weekend.

Twin Sisters

They chatter incessantly. Their giggling is infectious. Engaged in play, they work well together. One tends to be a bossy boots, giving instructions to the other more placid and accommodating one. They mock each other playfully, but when they get tired they can niggle and irritate one another a little.

I've selected this post for my Tuesday Toot contribution.

Yes, it’s Tuesday – Twin Tuesday – and that means that I’ve been visiting one of my fave blogs – Twin Happy – for some ‘twinspiration’ for my blog post again!

Question of the Week:

Do you think your twins are closer than the average pair of siblings?

Here is Twin Happy Jen’s answer:

“I would have to say definitely yes. I didn’t think so when they were babies… they seemed almost unaware that the other was there (except for maybe if one would vomit on the other and then the one who got vomited on would just kind of blink and look around like, “Where’d that come from…” :-p). But, the older they get, the closer they seem to get, as well. And, even though they occasionally have same kinds of disagreements (OK fights :-p) that I had with my siblings growing up (and I’m sure everyone who has siblings has had)… for the most part, they play/work exceptionally well together… they draw books together, if one gets a treat, they have to make sure their sister gets one, too… I could go on with a million examples, but I’ll just ask, how would you answer this question?”

Now, here’s my answer:

Do I think my twins are closer than the average pair of siblings?

I would also have to say “Yes! Most definitely.” However, I only have my twin daughters. I have no other children…… yet! (Ha! Don’t tell Hubby I said that!) Therefore, it’s not the most straightforward question to answer.

All I can say is that my daughters, like Jen’s, play together and work together exceptionally well. They have the same likes and dislikes and the same sense of humour. With them being in the same class at school, they share a lot of the same friends and have a lot of shared experiences.

I believe that, in general, twins are closer than the average pair of siblings because they share most, if not all, of their significant life events throughout childhood (even before they are born!)

My girls are not identical. I believe that identical twins share an even greater bond, as they are so alike (like clones).

However, my girls, although very different in many ways, are like the proverbial ‘two peas in a pod’, and they do not like to spend too much time apart. If they do have to spend time away from each other, they do speak of each other and ask how long it will be until the other is home.

I hope that their closeness continues into their teenage years and adulthood

I have nominated www.twinhappy.com for a BEST BLOG award. You can read more about this and see my other nominations here,
