Blog Hop – Snow Pics and Stories
The MckLinky Blog Hop theme for this Monday is “Snow Pics and Stories“. With many places getting their “once every hundred years snow”, MckLinky thought it would be fun to see our snow pics and hear about the snow in our areas.
I live in Scotland, UK, and we have experienced our coldest winter in more than a generation. The British media has dubbed this winter as “The Big Freeze“.
I recently posted the following two snow-themed entries on my blog:
- My Wintery Walk to Work - See some photos of the “Winter Wonderland” I had to walk through on my way to the office, during the “Big Freeze”.
- My Twins’ Favourite Ways to Play in the Snow - See some photos of my gorgeous twin girls having some festive fun over the Christmas holidays.
You should also visit the BBC News website links below to view some stunning photographs of my beautiful country taken during the Big Freeze:
There’s no snow here at the moment, but various places in the UK (mostly high or coastal areas) have experienced snow in the last week or so, and the MET Office have warned that there’s still more to come. Here it’s actually a lovely sunny day, but it’s perishingly cold.
What like is the weather where you are? Please leave a comment and/or (if you have your own blog) join the MckLinky below to share your snow pics and stories.
If you have hopped by on the MckLinky blog hop, please say “Hi!” in the comments below, and (before you go) check out my other MckLinky’s here.
Twin Thursday: My twins’ favourite ways to play in the snow
Yes, I know it’s THURSDAY not TUESDAY!! The proper meme is TWIN TUESDAY, but it seemed like the Gods were conspiring against me this week! Sorry!
Firstly, my source of inspiration for this meme, Jennifer Miller of Twin Happy was a little late in posting her Twin Tuesday post. In fact, she actually published her post mid-afternoon, so I suppose it wasn’t late at all. Trouble is, she lives in Maryland, Mid-Atlantic, USA, and I live in Scotland, UK. Therefore, it was almost my bedtime by then! Still, as a Twin Tuesday devotee, I started drafting my response to the Twin Tuesday Question of the Week straight away.
The second hurdle I faced was my slooooooooooooooooooooooow Internet connection, teamed with a temperamental WordPress dashboard, resulting in my drafts not being saved and my temper fraying! There was no way I would be able to upload any pictures for my post.
Finally, I had intended to post this last night but, I ended up having dinner with the inlaws when I went to pick up the girls last night. By the time we all got home, and the girls went to bed, I was too tired to post and ended up catching up with my Lost Season 2 boxset (yes, I know I’m way behind with that too!!)
Anyway, as I have done in the past (and no doubt will do again in the future!), I have decided to just go ahead and post my Twin Tuesday post late. Therefore I’ve changed the meme to Twin Thursday!
Twin Happy Jen’s Twin Tuesday QOTW this week is:
“What are your twins’ favourite ways to play snow?”
Jen’s QOTW is inspired by the unusual amount of snow she has been experiencing in Maryland.
This is similar to the exeriences of us in the UK, who have been having the coldest winter on record. The UK almost ground to a standstill at one point in the Big Freeze, as our country is simply not set up for this extreme weather.

Dancing in the snow
While most of the adult population cursed the snow and ice, most of the children whooped in delight! My five-year old twin girls were delighted with the snow! In the previous winters of their short lives they have bemoaned the fact that there was not enough snow to make a snowman or a snow angel or to have a snowball fight! This winter their dreams have come true!

Triplets!
They made a very impressive little Snow Girl in our back garden, and she lived with us for more than three weeks!! Snow lasting this long here is virtually unheard of!
The girls also had a ball throwing lots of snowballs at their Daddy and even a couple at their Mummy too!
The snow has long since melted and today, although it is bitterly cold outside, the sun is shining, the sky is blue and it looks (almost!) spring-like! However, the MET office has predicted a return of the BIG Freeze, so it could be that my girls get to play even more snow games this winter!…
