First Working Mummy Wednesday of 2011
Happy New Year! I hope you all had a great Christmas!? I had a lovely time with the family! However, all good things come to an end, and I was back to work today.
Working Mommy Wednesday – ‘Snow Work So Far This Week!
I’ve been having an unexpected few days off work, courtesy of the great British weather!! The snow has come early this year. We rarely get snow at all in November, and have NEVER experienced such relentless blizzards at this time of year!! (more…)
Working Mommy Wednesday – There’s Lots to be Thankful For!
- Family
- The main thing I am thankful for in my life is my family. I’m thankful for my husband of twelve and a half years, who has been my partner for almost TWENTY years! (Please don’t ask me the secret to our longevity! I honestly don’t know! LOL)

- We are blessed and eternally thankful for our precious six-year-old twin daughters. We’re thankful that they survived their premature birth with no major ill effects. They are happy, healthy, intelligent, sociable and well behaved little girls, and I am so proud and thrilled to be their Mummy!
- I am thankful for my wonderful parents, who have done so much for me over the years, and thankful that they have a lovely close relationship with my daughters – their grandchildren!
- I am thankful for my lovely wee sister, Elaine. There may be a six year age difference, but I’m thankful that we are close sisters and friends. She may be the younger sister, but I often turn to her for advice.
- I am also thankful for my wonderful in-laws. My mother and father-in-law are amazing people, who do an awful lot for the entire family. We could not cope without them. They have been invaluable to me in recent years, by helping with the childcare arrangements of my daughters, and thus enabling me to work. I’m also thankful for my brother and sister in laws , who are always on standby for babysitting (in fact they can often squabble over looking after the girls!)

- Friends
I have a wide circle of friends, many whom I’ve had since childhood, and some whom I’ve never physically met! I am thankful for each and every one of them, and for the role (big or small) that they play in my life.
-
- Lifelong friends – I have a have a handful of friends that I’ve had like FOREVER!! I am very grateful for these true friendships, that have stood the test of time. No matter how long a gap in our meet ups, I know we can just pick up from where we left off. There are no awkward silences, no hard feelings, but instead wonderful conversations, beautiful shared memories and lots and lots of laughs!!
- Miscellaneous Friends – I have made many friends over the years, some whom I have kept in touch with, others who have faded away. Many of these friendships were made through work, with some being friends of my husband and their partners. I am thankful for the time spent with each and every one of these friends and the happy memories we have.
- Online friends – In recent years I have developed friendships with people from other parts of Scotland and the UK, as well as people in Canada and the United States. These friendships have grown from me following blogs, and through following people on Twitter. I interact with many of these people on Facebook now. I am very thankful for these International friendships, which I believe enrich my life.
- New Friends – Since moving to my neighbourhood five and a half years ago, I have made lots of new friends – some through work, but many through my girls! Making friends in the area you live in is vitally important, and I am thankful to have friends close by.
Working Mommy Wednesday – Honest Confessions About Motherhood
The worry you feel while pregnant is NOTHING compared to the worry you feel once the baby actualy arrives!
Working Mommy Wednesday – for Better or Worse?
This week’s WMW prompt is:
Having a career/job makes me a better/ worse mother. (why/why not?)
Like almost all working mums, I can experience major guilt pangs and curse the fact that I have to work. Sure, I’d love to be able to pick the girls up from school at 3pm every day, take them home, help them with their homework and get them involved in preparing dinner. Sure, I’d love to have a pristeen home, organised cupboards, home-grown fruit and veg, and lots of home cooking and baking. All these things would contribute to me being a good mum (and wife!).
However…
Working Mommy Wednesday
I just came across this great blog called Work Wife Mom Life today, and I spotted that the author hosts a meme which is most definitely right up my street – Working Mommy Wednesday.
